Who is Frank Sacks?
Frank Sacks is respected local business owner, educator, coach, and community recreation leader who has been involved in Niles
Township District 219 since 1981. Mr. Sacks and his wife Janis are parents of two strongly involved District 219 students: a 2012 West graduae and a current senior at Niles West.
Mr. Sacks holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Drake University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from
the Loyola University/Chicago Graduate School of Business. Mr. Sacks is a certified as a secondary school teacher in Illinois
for grades 6-12. Mr. Sacks was an educator and administrator in the Chicago Public Schools from 1994 to 2012.
Mr. Sacks was the Head Boy’s Tennis Coach at Niles West from 1981-86 and in 1996. He was the Head Girl’s Tennis Coach at
Niles North from 1983-1985 and the Head Girl’s Tennis ach at Niles West in 1989. The 1982 and 1986 Niles West Boy's Teams coached by Frank Sacks remain the only boys tennis teams in Niles West History to win IHSA Sectional Tennis Championships. Both teams qualified all team members for the IHSA State Tennis Tournament. Mr. Sacks was the Head Men’s and
Women’sTennis Coach at Northeastern Illinois University from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Sacks conducted outdoor
community tennis programs in District 219 from 1981-2013 and community indoor tennis programs from 1994-2013.
Mr. Sacks was the owner and president of Frank Sacks Tennis Camps and Frank Sacks Tennis Camps, Inc from 1981 to 2011. He is currently the Managing Member of Midwest Tennis Programs, LLC (MWTP) which is located in Skokie. MWTP provides
professional tennis program management and instruction throughout the Chicago area at a reasonable cost for park
districts, villages, cities, schools, camps, and social service agencies. Mr. Sacks and his staff have provided tennis programs for
over 30 area communities and schools for the past 35 years. Mr. Sacks also is certified at the highest tested level by the two leading tennis teaching professional organizations: as a USPTA elite level 1 professional and at the professional level by the PTR.
Frank Sacks was honored by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as a National Grassroots Tennis Hero in 2006. In 2007, he was a featured speaker at the Loyola University Graduate School of Business 15th annual “So you want to be an
Entrepreneur” Program with Seattle Sutton (Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Living) and Jim Oberweis (Oberweis Dairies). In 2008, Mr.
Sacks was featured in the Chicago Tribune article “A Well Fought Comeback” and was credited by the Chicago Tribune for
his leadership “with championing tennis in the suburbs during the last 17 years.”
Mr. Sacks is running for the NTHS District 219 Board as a new independent voice for necessary change. Frank wants to help revive our once proud District that has been in decline for many years. Franklin A. Sacks will not be beholden to either the administration or the teacher's union and the newly formed Progress 219 group sponsored by the
leaders of the D219 teacher's union. Instead, Mr. Sacks will be represent all state holders fairly and equitably. He will
be a voice for students, parents, taxpaying community members, and teachers. Mr. Sacks is a musician and member of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra and he is former member of Evanston Symphony's Board of Directors. He is a passionate supporter of arts education in District 219 and will continue to advoacate for revitization of arts programs in District 219.
Mr. Sacks is the only candidate that has a specific platform with initiatives for change in D219 that addresses the problems facing D219 including declines in student academic performance, tax payer/commumity trust, teacher morale, and overall educational quality since the early 2000's.
